“The Records Shall Go to the Unbelieving Jews”

Monte S. Nyman

The unbelieving Jews were all of the Jews at the time of Mormon. Collectively they had all rejected Jesus. Although some had accepted him at the time of his earthly ministry. Their apostasy was probably complete at this time and the Jews had all been scattered. Therefore, they were all unbelievers. The purpose of the Book of Mormon going forth was to persuade them that Jesus was their Messiah (see also 2 Nephi 25:18–19), and the Son of God. Those Jews who accept the Book of Mormon, along with others, will be gathered back to their promised land as God has covenanted he would do (see also 3 Nephi 20:29–36).
