“A Fresh Army of the Lamanites Did Come Upon Them and They Had a Sore Battle”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Quickly, with overpowering numbers the Lamanites drove the attacking Nephites back to the place from which they had started. Not only did the warriors from the south follow them into the Land Desolation, but while the Nephites were yet resting from the terrible ordeal just enacted, a fresh army of Lamanites came upon them. The battle that ensued was a sore one; the Nephites fought in vain, and were eventually driven from the City Desolation which they had formed into a bastion. (See, Mormon 3:5-6) "The Lamanite warriors did slay many of the Nephites and did take many prisoners."
