“The Lamanites Did Take Possession of the City Desolation and Did Slay Many of the Nephites”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

The Nephites, emanating confidence in themselves became of the victories gained by them in the last two struggles with the Lamanites-and therein overestimating their own strength-were convinced that they could, by a might all their own, overcome and vanquish their unyielding foe.

The Nephites congregated all their forces in the Land Desolation, and from there as a base for operations invaded the Land Southward.
