“That I Could Persuade All Ye Ends of the Earth”

Brant Gardner

This is Mormon’s most concise statement of his purpose in writing—to “persuade all… ends of the earth to repent and prepare to stand before the judgment-seat of Christ.” He was keenly aware of his work’s eschatological purpose; its appearance would be a harbinger of end-time events preceding the Messiah’s second coming. It is no mistake that he highlights here the inevitability of judgment for all humankind.
