“My Mouth Was Shut, and I Was Forbidden That I Should Preach Unto Them”

Brant Gardner

Mormon’s efforts to preach were thwarted because his “mouth was shut”—presumably by Yahweh and for his own protection. If the people’s rejection of the Three Nephites took such violent forms, they probably would have turned similar wrath on Mormon. Even though the need for repentance was great, Yahweh had a different mission for Mormon.
