Wickedness inhibits the work of miracles, such as healing, and the gifts of the Spirit. The Holy Ghost withdraws when people willfully sin. Because of such an environment the Lord took away the three Nephite disciples, who could have been a tremendous boon to the people. Worst of all, Mormon was forbidden to preach to his people because of their willful rebellion.
