“A Record of the Things Which I Have Both Seen and Heard”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

The nature of this sub-section of the Book of Mormon, called the book of Mormon, is an eyewitness account. In all that Mormon has done to this point, he has served the role of conveyor, abridger, or inspired commentator concerning information archived by his predecessors. At this point, he can speak in the first person as an observer of the happenings all around him and as a commentator concerning the implications of these events in the divine scheme of things. Being the observer and writer, Mormon logically gives this segment his own name.
