Latter-day Saints Are Not to Ridicule the People of the House of Israel

Daniel H. Ludlow

The gospel of Jesus Christ invokes us to love our neighbor as ourselves, and if all mankind lived this commandment there would be no persecution or hatred of other peoples. The Savior knew that some groups of people would be persecuted, including the Jewish people. However, he told the Nephites that in the last days he would remember the covenants made with the house of Israel. Therefore, he tells the Nephites and us: "Yea, and ye need not any longer hiss, nor spurn, nor make game of the Jews, nor any of the remnant of the house of Israel." (3 Nephi 29:8.)
