“Unto Whatsoever Man It Seemeth Them Good”

Brant Gardner

Mormon does not state specifically how the Three Nephites can be hidden from the world and yet be in the world. He suggests, however, that they have the same power as angels or heavenly messengers to show themselves “unto whatsoever man it seemeth them good.” This phrase perhaps fed the folklore’s descriptions of the appearing and disappearing helpers. In the lore, the fact of the Three Nephites’ presence is confirmed by their mysterious disappearance.
