“He That Endureth Not Unto the End, Shall be Hewn Down and Cast into the Fire”

Brant Gardner

Once the correct foundation is firmly in place, we can build on it with confidence. However, some will not “endure to the end.” They will be “hewn down and cast into the fire.” Jesus had used this imagery in describing the church of men: “But if it be not built upon my gospel, and is built upon the works of men, or upon the works of the devil, verily I say unto you they have joy in their works for a season, and by and by the end cometh, and they are hewn down and cast into the fire, from whence there is no return” (3 Ne. 27:11). Abandoning the incomplete house is as bad as building on a poor foundation. Neither house will perform its proper function at the last day.
