“To Baptize and to Teach As Many As Did Come”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
We usually speak of the conversion process in terms of teaching and then baptizing. This is a correct part of the sequence, but it also appears that here the teaching properly continued even after the ordinances had been performed. One of the primary missions of the Church is the “perfecting of the Saints.” This mission is carried out through continual instruction, fellowshipping, and ministering to those who have already been taught and baptized. Some truths are only grasped and appreciated alter the conferral of the gift of the Holy Ghost.
