“Saying: I Will Try the Faith of My People”

W. Cleon Skousen

It is amazing that Mormon was about to write down everything which he thought was important for us to know, but the Lord forbade it. In fact the Lord said that if the modern Saints were not sufficiently excited and enthusiastic about the abbreviated version of the Book of Mormon which we have already received then all of the rest would be completely withheld to our utter condemnation. One of the main reasons Wendell Noble and I have labored through the years to provide this commentary on the Book of Mormon was to give the Saints in these hectic, busy days a much easier way to listen to the Book of Mormon in the car or at home, and thereby demonstrate to the Lord that we love this book and want to prove worthy to receive more.

The Lord has already expressed his indignation at our failure to treasure the Book of Mormon and the nuggets of truth it contains.1 God loves the Saints for the work they have done in the mission field, in the temples and in our homes, but we are still treating many things lightly or completely ignoring precious truths lying dormant in the scriptures.
