The sons of Levi will yet offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. Does that mean that blood sacrifices of animals will be reinstituted? We do know that the sacrificial shedding of the blood of animals, symbolic of the great sacrifice involving the shedding of the Savior’s blood, was part of the proper worship of God since the beginning. The practice will be resumed, but for how long? President Joseph Fielding Smith wrote: “Blood sacrifices will be performed long enough to complete the fulness of the restoration in this dispensation. Afterwards sacrifice will be of some other character.”72
