and cry aloud thou that didst not [travel 1|travail ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST] with child

Isaiah 54:1 (King James Bible) and cry aloud thou that didst not travail with child

All the manuscript scribes wrote travel in place of travail. This spelling is based on their pronunciation of travail. In most instances, the 1830 typesetter substituted the standard travail, as here in this quotation from Isaiah 54:1 (which reads travail ). And as elsewhere for this word, the 1830 typesetter could have determined that travail was correct without consulting his King James Bible. 𝓞 itself, not extant here, probably read travel. For a complete discussion, see under 2 Nephi 29:4.

Summary: Maintain the word travail in 3 Nephi 22:1, the 1830 reading as well as the corresponding King James reading.
