In describing some of the events of the last days including the destructions to come upon the Gentiles if they do not repent, the Savior quotes from chapter 54 of Isaiah. Among the prophecies contained in this chapter is the promise to the house of Israel that in the last days "thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles and make the desolate cities to be inhabited." (3 Nephi 22:3. See also Isaiah 54:3.)
