At that time the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles as a lion among beasts of the forest, or among sheep.
This seems to point to a time when the aborigines of America will cause trouble. Or, has, perhaps, the prophecy been fulfilled, at least as far as the United States is concerned, in the Indian wars already fought?
There are at present, as estimated, about 523,591 Indians in the United States. They have about 40,000,000 acres of land between them. An increasing number frequent public schools. Inter-marriages with Caucasians are also increasing in frequency. On the whole their standard of civilization is rapidly improving.
In some other American countries the Indian element is much larger. In Mexico, for instance, it is estimated that there are almost 5,000,000 Indians and twice that many "Mestizos." In countries where the aboriginal element is so large, disturbances may occur, however, in that case, the blame is largely with the Gentiles.
