“As a Man Gathereth His Sheaves into the Floor”

Brant Gardner

This verse comes from Micah 4:2 (quoted below), but the Messiah reshapes it by indicating that he will do the gathering. It is an end-time promise of Israel’s dominance after the gospel is given to the Gentiles, followed by the gathering.

Culture: Micah’s horticultural image would not be familiar in the New World, but the Nephites would have known it from the brass-plate text. Certainly they would have understood the concept as part of their cultural heritage.

Reference: Micah 4:12 reads: “But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.”
