Although Nephi did not record details of the prayer, it probably confirmed the people’s position as part of the covenant people. Jesus’s lament at Israel’s wickedness was directed to the house of Israel as a whole, certainly not to this group, who constituted the firmest of believers. Certainly they had already committed in their hearts to fully repent and follow this resurrected being who had come to them and who now suffused them with the Spirit.
