“In the Ending of the Thirty and Fourth Year”
The signs of Christ’s death came on the fourth day of the first month in the thirty-fourth year (see 3 Nephi 8:5). Mormon here tens us that Christ appeared to the Nephites “in the ending” of the thirty-fourth year, thus suggesting that it was several months following his Old World ascension into heaven before he came to the Nephites (see Mortal Messiah 4:307).
