Many hours of silence preceded Christ’s visit to the Nephites. In modern revelation, the Lord said before His Second Coming, “There shall be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour … and the face of the Lord shall be unveiled.” (D&C 88:95). The book of Revelation states that after the seventh seal is opened, there will be silence in heaven for the space of about half an hour (see Revelation 8:1).
