This has not been an easy war with the Gadiantons. In spite of their success, it was a costly and difficult victory. It require the massive relocation of the people. It required that men and women abandon homes and lands that had been in their families for generations. It required an entire people to crowd together tighter than they had ever lived before, and it most certainly required some sacrifice of comfort and probably quantity of food as a result. It is no wonder than when it was finally over that they should be so enthusiastic in their celebrations.
