“An Epistle from the Leader and the Governor of This Band of Robbers”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

The secret combination—the band of robbers—brazenly regarded itself as strong enough to demand capitulation from the Nephite government. The governor of the band, using flattery, false accusation, intimidation, and threats, demanded that the head of the government give up, join the secret society, and partner with the robbers in their works, which, as the robber chief said, “I know to be good” (recall Isaiah’s warning of woe to those who call evil good; 2 Nephi 15:20).
