It appears at this point that Mormon, the historian, is trying to condense this history so he will have adequate space for the ministry of Christ. In fact in this chapter he covers four years and twenty historical developments.
Obviously this was a critical year. It was now 600 years since Lehi had left Jerusalem and Lehi had been told that after that time the Messiah would be born.
