“Pride and Wickedness”

Brant Gardner

In spite of miracles, Nephi’s preaching, and Samuel’s prophecies, most of the Nephites continue in “their pride and wickedness.” The social revolution that allowed the Gadiantons to gain power still dominates Nephite society, even though those first leaders were exiled. The shift in the social consciousness that allowed them to come to power remained part of the Nephite culture and remains antithetical to the gospel.
