“Had the Mighty Works Been Shown”

Brant Gardner

Samuel explains that among the Nephites’ privileges have been “mighty works,” an obvious allusion to Nephi’s public revelation of a murder and murderer (Hel. 7–9). Samuel publicly chides the Nephites for not believing, asserting that the Lamanites’ faith on seeing such miracles would be permanent. The hardhearted Nephites, in contrast, ignore even miracles.
