“A Spiritual Death”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

A spiritual death, yea, a second death] To experience spiritual death in mortality is to be cut off from the presence of God or to be alienated from things of the Spirit, from things of righteousness (see Alma 12:16; Alma 40:26; Alma 42:9). Those who refuse to repent and comply with gospel law in this life shall be subject in life to come to what the scriptures call the second death, meaning the second spiritual death. Those who suffer this death are denied access to God the Father forever.
