“A Remission of Them Through His Merits”
Strictly speaking, we do not gain a remission of sins through our own labors. Though we are required to have faith in Christ and come unto him through denying ourselves of all ungodliness, we are made clean through Christ’s merits, through his works, through his atoning sacrifice.
