“The Lord Commanded Me by His Angel”

Brant Gardner

Samuel asserts that he was called by an angel, something that the Nephites ought to believe and respect. Instead, they reject his call to repent. Samuel understands that, compounding the error of their rejection, was their prejudice against Lamanites. They were unable to accept a prophet from that despised nation. They also rejected his accusations because they were hard-hearted and angry, not sufficiently humble to accept the hard truths they were hearing.
