Mormon believes that the Nephites are bringing this curse upon themselves. Their iniquities are bringing upon them a destruction that is not only physical but also spiritual. Nevertheless, there is always hope in repentance, and so Mormon ends his lament on the hopeful—the prayerful—note of repentance.
