The first conclusion is a contrast between false and unsteady hearts and those who put their trust in the Lord (v. 1). The list of things that God had done for the Nephites (v. 2) is a recognition of the Lord’s “hand in all things” (D&C 59:21). The Nephites forgetting the Lord their God in their great prosperity (v. 2) was certainly caused by pride, even though Mormon does not mention it (see Jacob 2:13; Alma 4:6–8).
