“An Army of Strong Men”

Brant Gardner

The Nephites launch a counterattack by “an army of strong men” against the Gadiantons, which fails. I therefore deduce that they were no fluidly organized guerilla band who faded into the mountains. While a guerilla army might have defeated the Nephites, the Nephites knew where to find these Gadiantons. This fact implies a permanent location, probably a city. I further deduce from the fact that the Nephites’ strong army was repelled that the Gadiantons had fortified their settlement.
