“Nephi and Lehi . . . Having Many Revelations Daily . . . Did Preach Unto the People”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

There is power in the word to cause change (see Alma 5:13; 17:4; 31:5; 62:45). When we preach the word by the Spirit, it is carried unto the hearts of the people (see 2 Nephi 33:1). Through the word we can, if we are easily entreated, learn all things that we are to do (see 2 Nephi 32:3). The word of God can stir people up unto remembrance of their duty and even pull down their pride (see Alma 4:19). When we are faithful, the Lord will be with us and we will be given what to say at the very moment we need it (see D&C 84:85–88; 100:5–6). The Lord will even put the words we should say in our hearts (see Helaman 13:4–5). Remember, it was by the power of the word that the earth and man came into being (see Jacob 4:9). When called and prepared, one can preach the word with the power and authority of God (see Alma 17:2–3). Remember that it is by the power of the word that miracles are accomplished (see Mormon 9:17). Inspired teaching, preaching, and the working of miracles—all these things are wrought by the power of the word, in and through the Lord Jesus Christ (see Jacob 4:6; 3 Nephi 7:19–20; 8:1; 4 Nephi 1:5), for He is, in fact, the Word of God (see John 1; Revelation 19:13).
