“There Began to Be Much Strife”

Brant Gardner

These contentions were completely unnecessary, since “Nephi and Lehi, and many of their brethren” not only knew the doctrine but also enjoyed a stream of revelation. Nephi, Lehi, and their brethren taught knowledge from Yahweh. However, because they were men, other men could dismiss them. Even given the great power of men like Nephi and Lehi, some saw only their humanity and missed their divine truth and authority. Thus, contentions arose, turning into dissensions.
