“Rain Fell Upon the Earth”

Brant Gardner

Even though Yahweh answered Nephi’s prayer, the process was the natural one: the normal arrival of the seasonal rains. There was no miracle manna. Nephi offered the prayer in the seventy-fifth year (v. 6), and rain fell in the seventy-sixth. The typical rainy season comes in the summer, with the winter being the seasonally dry months. Therefore, this rain would have fallen in the summer of the seventy-sixth year, or about 19 B.C.
