Here is the irony. Nephi has performed a miracle, and the people ignore it. Here is the importance of agency, for Nephi can call a famine, but he cannot produce faith in the human heart. Those who were inclined to disbelief found a way to continue in disbelief. Upon them Nephi again pronounces the consequence. If they do not repent, destruction will come.
