“Nephi is Recognized by Some As a Prophet”

Monte S. Nyman

After Nephi’s sign was proven true (v. 27) some, but not the majority, were converted. Others were converted though the testimony of the first five investigators (v. 39). Some others were over-converted in believing Nephi was a God (v. 41). However, a prophet may know the thoughts of the heart. Ammon perceived the thought of the Lamanite king (Alma 18:16). Ammon was also told things about his brothers being imprisoned in the land of Middoni (Alma 20:3–5). A prophet is not a God, but he can tell you things that only God could know. We honor a prophet but we worship God.
