“The Sons of Zedekiah Were Not Slain All Except It Were Mulek”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

The biblical record notes that the sons of King Zedekiah were killed before his eyes; then he was blinded and hauled off to Babylonian captivity (2 Kings 25:7; Jeremiah 39:6–7). The world is not aware, however, that one of Zedekiah’s sons escaped from Jerusalem and helped lead another colony of immigrants to the New World. This verse and Helaman 6:10 identify that son as Mulek, who came to the Western Hemisphere to preserve the seed of Judah among the Israelites, who were, as prophesied, scattered upon all the face of the earth.
