“We Are Powerful and Our Cities Great”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Those whose wickedness was exposed by Nephi responded with the ferociousness of a trapped animal. They could not lay hands on him for fear of the people, so they sought to turn the people against him. Of Nephi’s warning of impending destruction they said, “this is impossible,” “we are powerful,” “our cities great,” “our enemies can have no power over us.” Yet they trembled at the testimony of a lone man. Truth is more powerful than great cities, and wickedness more destructive than alien armies.
