“Encircled About As if by Fire”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
This pentecostal occasion came to pass largely because of the faith and power of Nephi and Lehi, because two men paid the price to prepare themselves to teach and minister with power and authority of God. This particular experience could refer to a general protective influence of the Spirit (compare Daniel 3:19-27) or, more likely, to the presence of heavenly beings (see verse 39) in the prison with Lehi and Nephi (compare 3 Nephi 17:24).
