“Because of the Pride of Their Hearts”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Pride is a major pitfall to righteousness. It is a universal principle that pride and humility cannot exist in the heart at the same time. The Savior taught: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24). When we become prideful, irreverent, and reject the prophets, unrighteous attitudes and behavior follow. Let us beware if ever our attitude towards the things of God becomes casual or contentious.
