“They Did Fast and Pray Oft”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Fasting and prayer naturally go together to increase humility and faith. Humility is not weak but strong; faith is not flimsy but firm. Sanctification, the process of becoming true Saints or “holy ones,” comes by sacrificing our pleasure for God’s pleasure, giving up our desire to do his will—submitting or yielding our hearts to God (see also commentary at Mosiah 3:19).
