“Call Upon His Holy Name”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Speaking of the growth of the Church and the blessings of prosperity that were abundantly poured out upon those who were “baptized unto repentance,” Mormon uses his “thus we see” instructional method to teach an important doctrinal concept. He tells the reader that the Lord is mindful of and merciful to all who call upon his holy name in sincere and faithful prayer. There is no other condition. God is no “respecter of persons” (see Acts 10:34-35). Therefore the invitation to come unto the Lord, be transformed by his gospel, and partake of the blessings of heaven is available to all (see 2 Nephi 26:33; see also Commentary 1:311-12).
