“Contention over Government”

Monte S. Nyman

The contentions over the judgment-seat reminds us of the party politics of our own day. Pacumeni is a good example for a government by the voice of the people. Once the people had spoken, he united with the voice of the people giving the newly formed government an opportunity to fulfill their role, as we assume, they had advocated in their campaign. The condemnation of Paanchi unto death is not enlarged upon in the text, but we again make an assumption, it was more than just a disagreement over who was the best qualified to govern. The destruction of liberty is the plan of Lucifer for which he was cast out (see Moses 4:3). “A third part of the hosts of heaven” followed Satan (D&C 29:36–37).
