“He Retired to His Own House That He Might Spend the Remainder of His Days in Peace”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

For many years the sounds and horrors of war had dominated the landscape. Now comes a time of rest. Moroni and his compatriots finally restore peace in the land after completing a successful series of campaigns that lasts some eighteen years. Now Moroni can retire to his own home to spend the remainder of his days in peace. He has left his noble mark in the sands of time. “Yea, and he was a man who was firm in the faith of Christ, and he had sworn with an oath to defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion, even to the loss of his blood” (Alma 48:13). We can remember Moroni as a bold champion of liberty, a practitioner of strategic defense for homes and families, one who upholds the inalienable rights of agency among the children of God, and a man of humble faith in the power and guidance of the Lord.
