“In the Plains of Nephihah”

Brant Gardner

Geography: Mormon provides a geographical detail—that the city of Nephihah is set in the “plains of Nephihah.” Obviously, a city would be sited in a reasonably flat area, but the specific mention of “plains” may suggest that some of the larger land of Nephihah was not flat. A location along the river shore in a valley makes sense, since a plain might exist between the city and the river, but perhaps foothills would arise on the other side.
