“God has said that the inward vessel shall be cleansed first, and then shall the outer vessel be cleansed also.” There seems to be a fixed order for retributions to be meted out. “And upon my house shall it begin, … saith the Lord; first among those … who have professed to know my name and have not known me” (D&C 112:25–26).
