“Righteous Are Lost Because They Are Slain”

These two verses apparently come to the opposite conclusion than Moroni’s letter to Pahoran, and they probably represent a difference between Mormon’s and Moroni’s perspectives. For Moroni, many of the Nephite dead were righteous; those deaths needed an explanation. For Mormon, unrighteousness was rampant (and would increase); therefore, it explained the Nephite destruction and therefore the deaths.
