“The People of Nephihah Were Obliged to Flee and Came to Join the Army of Moroni”

Brant Gardner

The army that Helaman had called “innumerable” had joined with another, even larger, force. That combined army comes against Nephihah. Ammoron appears to be in charge of the army that takes Nephihah. We do not hear about him again until Alma 61:8 where Zarahemla king-men desire to enter into a treaty with him. We are not told his explicit location until Alma 62:33 when we find him with the last holdout of the Lamanite army in Moroni. I speculate that he remained in Nephihah until Moroni retook it and then escaped during the Lamanite flight from that city (Alma 62:25–26).
