The city of Nephihah had only been in existence for ten years. It was established in the twentieth year of the judges (see Alma 50:14, 16). The city’s inhabitants gathered together for protection because the war with the Lamanites was on both fronts (vv. 5–6). The inhabitants were no match for the numerous Lamanites (v. 8).
