Had not the Lord assured Helaman that he would be blessed with a victory it is doubtful that the Nephites would have dared to risk this open exposure of their army to a Lamanite assault. Nevertheless, at this point it was apparent that the smallness of their number was the decoy that lured the Lamanites out of the city.
